2016 Annual Meeting Recap

On December 7th, close to 300 GAAR and SWMLS members attended the Annual Meeting at Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid North. 

During the morning session, members reviewed the financial report, recognized volunteer members and installed the officers and directors of both the GAAR and SWMLS Boards. Current GAAR President Jon Schnoor, incoming GAAR President Don Martindell, current SWMLS President Joe Schumerth and incoming SWMLS President Tego Venturi discussed the accomplishments of 2016 and initiatives to look forward to in the coming year. Committee Chairs were honored for their dedication and the session closed with keynote speaker and former Dallas Cowboy, Jay Novacek.

At GAAR's Appreciation Luncheon, the REALTOR® Fund Committee presented checks to APS Title 1 Homeless Project, the Boys and Girls Club of New Mexico, the Senior Citizens Law Office and New Mexico Kids Matter. The 2016 Good Neighbor Award recipients were honored and each was presented with a $500 grant for the charity they serve. 

Throughout the day, volunteers collected donations for the REALTOR® Fund, Angel Tree and RPAC. Everyone that donated to the REALTOR® Fund in 2016 was entered in to win an airfare for 2 for each $50 they donated. At the end of the lunch, the REALTOR® Fund airfare winners, Bridget Hazen and Julie Greenwood, were announced.

Between the generosity of the table sponsors and the morning fundraising drive, over $4,900 was raised for the REALTOR® Fund through the Annual Meeting alone.

The day ended with a special code of ethics class, "When You Come to the Fork in the Road, TAKE IT!" instructed by Rick Harris.

In the end, it was a very successful Annual Meeting to wrap up an equally successful year.
