Has Anyone Noticed?
It’s 2017!!!
Elections are over, the votes have been counted and it is time to move into the new year with gusto.
All that being said it is important to know that our staff here at GAAR has been busy for several months preparing for the 2017 NM Legislative session. Here are some important session dates to remember:
- December 15, 2016 - January 13 Legislation may be prefiled
- January 17 Opening day (noon)
- February 16 Deadline for introduction
- March 18 Session ends (noon)
- April 7 Legislation not acted upon by governor is pocket vetoed
- June 16 Effective date of legislation not a general appropriation bill or a bill carrying an emergency clause or other specified date
2017 Legislative Priorities:
Although many issues can surface unexpectedly during the legislative session we have done our best to work with RANM and other stakeholders to identify priorities and formulate strategies which will represent the interests of our industry and our clients. Here is a list of those priorities so far:
- Home Inspector Licensing
- Homeowner Association (HOA) ACT Amendments
- Taxes
- Recycled Metals (copper theft)
- Jobs Growth
- Other legislation related to Real Estate
Be a part of the solution!! We need your help if we are to be successful at sharing our message with our legislators.
Please contact Kent Cravens, kent@gaar.com, if you would like to get involved in helping GAAR be The Voice for Real Estate in the Greater Albuquerque Area.
