On Wednesday, June 21st the Albuquerque City Council approved O-22-54 with a 5-4 vote to allow Accessory Dwelling Units (casitas) permissively in R-1 lots and passed the allowance for the conversion of non-residential (including old hotels/motels) into permanent long-term housing. One of the amendments removed was to allow 2-unit homes (duplexes) in R-1 lots.
