On Thursday, July 1st, 300 local REALTORS®, Area Mayors, and City Leaders gathered to celebrate the Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS® 100 Year Anniversary with a $100,000 donation to local charities.
Ten years ago, GAAR Members established the REALTOR® Fund with the Albuquerque Community Foundation to provide ongoing support to local charities serving Bernalillo, Valencia, Sandoval, and Torrance Counties.
To commemorate GAAR's Centennial Year, the REALTOR® Fund presented a $100,000 check that will be split among its 2021 Grant Recipients: Rio Grande Food Project, Saranam, and Serenity Mesa. The amount is more than double what each organization was expecting in 2021.
“As early as 1924, the ‘Albuquerque Real Estate Board’ contributed $40,000 to help promote the City of Albuquerque as a place to invest and live,” said Belinda Franco, 2021 President of the Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS®. She added, “Today, we continue that tradition of giving to support our local charities that make our community a better place to live.”
Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller attended as Guest Speaker and presented a City of Albuquerque Executive Order proclaiming “Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS® Day” in honor of the integral role that REALTORS® have played for one hundred years of serving local homebuyers and home sellers achieve the “American Dream” of owning a home.
