Sources close to New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez tell KOB she will name Albuquerque City Councilor Brad Winter as the state's interim Secretary of State Tuesday.
Winter also previously served as the interim Superintendent of Albuquerque Public Schools in the months after Winston Brooks left.
Winter has also worked as a teacher, coach, principal and education administrator. He was also once a candidate for mayor.
In his new role, Winter becomes second in line to the governor – just behind the lieutenant governor. It's the first time Winter will have served in the state capitol.
KOB's sources say the governor was looking for a proven public administrator with a history of turning things around.
Winter, a popular Republican, is seen as a workhorse who is known to clean house when necessary, according to the governor's office. Click here to read the full article.
