Make a Difference Collection Extended until Friday, November 6th

Make a Difference Day is a traditional time each October when REALTORS® and Affiliates volunteer together to serve a local charity. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Community Relations Committee is highlighting two worthy organizations you may not be familiar with and are organizing collections for both. Members can drop off much-needed items at GAAR throughout the month of October. If you are able, help make a difference for these charities this month.  #MakeADifference  #GAAR

Look for the collection boxes in the GAAR lobby.
The deadline to donate has been extended until Friday, November 6th.

     

Child Life 

UNM Children’s Hospital’s Child Life program focuses on the psychosocial needs of patients and collaborates with parents to provide activities, entertainment, special events, pet therapy, and fun! Children and families enjoy the indoor child life playroom with games, musical instruments, toys, books, crafts, and a cooking area or they can visit Pete’s Playground, an outdoor area on the hospital roof that’s designed to accommodate children with physical limitations. The team of Child Life certified specialists and professionals help prepare young patients for medical procedures and can support and provide distractions during medical treatments.

For pediatric patients (up to 16 yrs old):

  • Colorful Socks (child to adult sizes)
  • Games, Books, Puzzles
  • Coloring Books, Crayons, Markers
  • Stuffed Animals
  • Treasure Chest Items
  • Blankets (any size)
  • Pillow Cases (standard)
  • Sheets (twin)

Joy Junction

Joy Junction offers emergency and short-term essentials such as food, clothing, counseling, transportation, shelter to homeless men, women, children, and families throughout Albuquerque. Guests can also receive an array of other services for their spiritual and emotional needs. Joy Junction believes in giving the homeless a hand up, not a handout, to help them get back on their feet.
