Albuquerque drivers are ditching their cars at a pace that puts them at the front end of a nationwide trend, according to a report in the Albuquerque Free Press.
The Albuquerque metro area had one of largest decreases in people using cars to get to work from 2006 to 2013, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures released last week.
The area saw a 2.1 percent decrease in the number of workers using cars to commute, from 91.4 percent in 2006 to 89.3 percent in 2013. That was the 15th largest decline in the U.S. among metros with populations of 500,000 or more.
San Francisco’s decline of 3.8 percent was the largest among U.S. metro areas.
While the percentage of commuters in the Albuquerque metro area who use cars declined, it was still above the national average of 86 percent. Click here to read the entire article.
