The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® (NAHREP) publishes the State of Hispanic Homeownership Report®, an industry benchmark that aggregates a wide range of data and research from both within and outside the housing industry. This report offers a comprehensive analysis of the U.S. Hispanic population's progress in homeownership, highlighting consumer behaviors, purchasing power, and trends. It also provides insights into the major factors influencing Hispanic homeownership over the past year.
The 2023 edition of the report marks a significant milestone, with the Hispanic homeownership rate reaching 49.5 percent. Despite navigating one of the least affordable housing markets on record, the Hispanic community achieved a net gain of 377,000 owner-households, the largest single-year increase since 2005. This growth occurred amidst challenges such as rising interest rates and low housing inventory. Nevertheless, Hispanic homebuyers demonstrated resilience by relocating to more affordable areas, utilizing co-borrowers, and leveraging local and specialized programs to attain homeownership.
NAHREP, known as The Voice for Hispanic Real Estate®, is dedicated to championing homeownership within the Hispanic community. Homeownership symbolizes the American Dream, serves as the cornerstone of wealth creation, and acts as a stabilizing force for working families. As trusted advisors and passionate advocates, NAHREP is committed to helping more Hispanic families achieve the American Dream in a sustainable way that empowers them for generations to come.
