All: This is as important an email as I have seen in the past five years. Please take time to join in on this and make sure your voice is heard. If you choose to testify you will have 1-2 minutes to state your opposition. Public participants will not be on video so no need to dress up. Keep it simple and short and don’t repeat what has already been said but put our industry on record.
Thank you, Kent
HB19 - Real Estate Transfer Tax Hearing TODAY at 2:00 pm!
The House Labor, Veterans’ and Military Affairs Committee meets today at 2:00 p.m. House Bill 19 is on their agenda.
NMAR strongly opposes this bill and any attempts to enact a transfer tax on the sale of real property. HB 19 proposes a Transfer Tax on the sale of real property valued at over $500,000 and calls for the generated revenue to be used to offset the loss of exempting Social Security Income.

At these House committee meetings, the chair usually asks those attending to vote via the Zoom poll on who is for the bill or who is against. We’re asking NMAR members to vote “against” the bill, and if they wish to comment, they can “raise” their electronic hand and be given one minute to comment.
A copy of the bill can be found here:
