Shareable Content: What & Where to Recycle in the Albuquerque Area

In the Albuquerque area, there are several options for recycling various materials, each categorized for ease of sorting and disposal.

Paper:  Items that can be recycled include newspapers, magazines, junk mail, office paper, corrugated cardboard, cereal and cracker boxes, milk and juice boxes, phone books, books, brown paper bags, and paper egg cartons.

Plastic:  Recyclables include plastics labeled #1 through #7, encompassing bottles and tubs, as well as rigid plastics like toys and hampers.

Metal:  Recyclables consist of aluminum cans, tin cans, foil and pie pans, pots and pans, and small appliances.

Glass:  Do not place glass in recycling bins.

  • Albuquerque: Utilize the designated yellow bins at various drop-off locations throughout Albuquerque.
  • Rio Rancho: Glass bottles can be taken to the West Mesa Landfill during normal business hours.
  • Los Lunas: Glass can be dropped off at the Los Lunas Recycling Center on Don Pasqual Road.

Battery Recycling:  Drop off at local home improvement stores, such as The Home Depot, Lowe's Home Improvement, and ACE Hardware.

It's important to ensure that all items are cleaned before recycling to avoid contamination during transportation to recycling facilities.
