In this course, you will explore the NAR-DOJ settlement changes and learn how to navigate the new landscape. You'll receive scenarios and talking points to help you discuss service and fees with consumers, review the duties of licensees and REALTORS®, and explain the benefits of representation. You'll also cover effective negotiation strategies, focusing on understanding your client's goals and addressing price, terms, and conditions in contract.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

1.    Explain general agency law as found in Common Law, which benefits consumers by understanding how they can be represented, and what duties are owed to consumers, regardless of whether or not the licensee represents them.
2.    Explain license law regarding agency and agency relationship. Benefit to consumer: understanding options and representation.
3.    Explain to a consumer in a counselling session the benefit of representation.

Melanie McLane is a second-generation REALTOR®, who is an appraiser, broker and educator. Recently awarded REALTOR® Emeritus status, she has been in real estate all of her adult life. She has written numerous courses, both for her own use, and for other educational companies including Hondros College, NAR, and several state realtor associations. Her local association has honored her with the "Spirit Award", the "Outstanding Achievement Award" and twice with "REALTOR® of the Year".
