This Course meets the NAR Fair Housing Requirement (January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2027)

Discrimination can be subtle or overt and sometimes unintentional. It is crucial that real estate practitioners are aware of and compliant with the laws that govern housing discrimination. This course looks at the history of fairThe Fair Housing Act of 1968 was the first major legislation that applied to residential housing. The Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 broadened the coverage, increased the enforcement policies of the Act and stiffened the penalties invoked for violation of the Act. The course will also examine:The New Mexico Human Rights Act and detail the additional classes that it offers protection to.Specific advertising policies are investigated and illustrated. The procedure for filing a complaint of discrimination are studied in detail. Plus there are lots of hints on how to stay clear of discriminatory practices in sales, rentals and financing of real estate.
